Why do we value Community Outreach at Crosfields?
Outreach and giving are an important part of our school ethos. We seek to support several charities each year locally, nationally and internationally. It allows our pupils to take on new responsibilities and develop leadership skills.
One of our core values is “Kindness” and giving our pupils the opportunity to raise money for charities is central to helping them better understand and appreciate the challenges others face. The school Charity Co-ordinator consults with the Heads of Houses, Rotakids and Interact Club on the charities for the year. The school oversees a range of fund raising activities initiated by the pupils. Pupils can further their education outside of the classroom by actively helping in the community. “We understand the importance of educating pupils to see the ‘bigger picture’ and encourage them to think of others.” Crosfields Charity Co-ordinator.
Children feel proud to be part of a positive change and enjoy the satisfaction of making a difference, no matter how big or small.
How do we get involved in Community Outreach?
Each of the four Houses, in both Juniors and Seniors, choose their own charity to support. Pupils present information on the charities in Collect (assemblies) and then the fundraising gets underway!
As part our extracurricular activities, Juniors can join the Rotakids Club, while the Seniors can participate in the Interact Club. Both clubs are proudly supported by the local Rotary Club. Involvement is the Interact Club, in particular, not only links our pupils to the local Rotary Club but also assists those working towards the Duke of Edinburgh Awards. Additionally, our connection to the Rotary Club offers our pupils the opportunity to take part in the Youth Exchange programme, providing them with invaluable international experiences. For more information about these programs, visit Interact Clubs | Rotary International and Rotary Youth Exchanges.
Our school is deeply committed to charitable activities, a commitment that has even led to a pupil being awarded a charity scholarship to pursue A Levels at a local private school.
In our Enrichment programme, Year 6 pupils engage with the local community by visiting and maintaining weekly contact with residents of a nearby care home.
