Crosfields School was proud to host this year’s ISA STEM National Finals, welcoming schools from across the UK for a day of innovation, creativity and scientific excellence.

The prestigious event brought together 62 finalists, with teams travelling from as far as Scotland to present their projects to a panel of eight industry judges. The day featured inspiring presentations and a hands-on workshop, creating a vibrant celebration of STEM learning.

Crosfields’ pupils made an exceptional impression, with six teams reaching the national finals and showcasing a diverse range of projects – from a marble rollercoaster inspired by real engineering principles to a self-sustaining terrarium and an accessible product designed to support individuals with disabilities.

The standard of work was reflected in the awards, with Crosfields’ pupils achieving outstanding success:

  • 1st Place (Years 5–6): Orion, Freddie and Izzy
  • 2nd Place (Years 5–6): Akira and Elissa
  • Judges’ Choice Award (Years 7–9): Sauhitya, Melody and Megha

Mrs Pooja Patel, Assistant Head (Academic) at Crosfields, said: “We are incredibly proud to have hosted the ISA STEM Finals and to see our pupils perform so brilliantly on a national stage. To be named as finalists is a significant achievement in itself, and the quality of their projects, creativity and problem-solving skills has been truly impressive.

“At Crosfields, we foster a love of STEM from an early age, and opportunities like this allow our pupils to explore their curiosity and apply their learning in meaningful and exciting ways.”

Pupils also spoke enthusiastically about their experience. One team shared: “We had an amazing time working on our project and presenting to the judges. Winning our category was an incredible moment, especially given the high standard of competition. It has made us even more excited to take part again next year.”

Another group added: “Although we were nervous at first, the experience was so enjoyable. Meeting pupils from other schools, sharing ideas and taking part in the workshop made it a really memorable day.”
