Crosfields School Shines at the Woodley Festival of Music and Arts

At the beginning of March, Crosfields School proudly entered three choirs into the Choral Section of the Woodley Festival of Music and Arts. Our Year 2 Choir was thrilled to receive the Star Trophy for the best infant choir. Both the Crosfields Lower Junior Choir and Upper Junior Choir performed beautifully, earning second place in their respective classes.

Over three weekends in March, Crosfields pupils participated in 42 individual vocal and instrumental classes, achieving remarkable success with 8 gold medals, 10 silver medals, and 7 bronze medals. We are incredibly proud of all our pupils’ hard work and dedication, which led to several exceptional performances and trophies.

Notable Achievements:

Emily (Year 10): Andrew McBride Trophy for the most promising intermediate singer in the Vocal and Pop/Jazz class (14 years and under).

Annabel (Year 6): Linnet Trophy for the most promising young junior singer in the Vocal and Pop/Jazz class (10 years and under).

Jeremy (Year 3): John Manning Trophy for an exceptional piano performance (8 years and under).

Yuyu and Oscar (Year 3): JJ Trophy for their favourite performance, awarded at the discretion of the adjudicator. They were joined by another young pianist in the Piano Trio class (9 years and under).

In addition to these achievements, Crosfields pupils entered 145 individual performances in the Speech and Drama section of the festival, earning 36 gold medals, 46 silver medals, and 37 bronze medals.

Special Congratulations:

Zihan (Year 2): Edna Grace Trophy for an outstanding performance in Prose Reading. Zihan’s exceptional performance earned her an invitation to perform at the Finale Concert at Leighton Park School, a significant honor.

Ella (Year 4): Waverley Cup for the best performance in Verse Speaking.

Malaika and Kanzy (Year 4): St Joseph’s Cup for the best performance in Prose Reading.

Eleanor and Cataleya (Year 6): Crosfields Cup for their contributions over the years to the Woodley Festival and outstanding performances in Verse Speaking.

Yesterday afternoon, The Crosfields Acorns, our Year 2 Choral Verse group, were honored to perform at the Finale Concert due to their success in the competition. The Finale Concert showcases the ‘best of the best’ performances across the festival in front of a large audience, including the Mayor, the Festival Sponsor, the Chairman, and the committee. We were delighted to be represented by 23 Crosfields pupils, including the 19 Year 2 Choral Verse children, Zihan, Yuyu, Oscar, Annabel, and Jeremy.

Congratulations to all our talented pupils for their outstanding achievements and hard work!
